Red
Sostegno
By Marchesi Alfieri, Asti, Piemonte, Italy
Sostegno blends Barbera and Pinot Nero, harvested and vinified separately before blending after the winter.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red with a fruity aroma; Barbera's cherry and red fruit blend with Pinot Nero's wild berries and spice, and a light, well-balanced oak vanilla note. Smooth and full-flavoured with a good tannic finish from the Pinot Nero. Drinks young but can age 4-5 years.
Pairs well with
Salami, cured meats, pasta dishes, red and white meats, medium-mature cheeses.
