By Giovanni Manzone, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy

Giovanni Manzone Riserva Cento Anni

A special Riserva released for the family's 1925 to 2025 centenary in Castelletto, made from the 2009 vintage and aged 84 months in neutral oak followed by 60 months in concrete, bottled without fining or filtration. 2,793 bottles, 230 magnums and 20 three-litre jeroboams produced.

Tasting notes

Intense garnet red with ebony black nuances. Intense, enveloping and complex bouquet of dried rose, sweet tobacco and mint, followed by leather and licorice. Powerful yet soft on the palate, with polished tannins and flavours shifting between wild cherry, rosolio fruit liqueur, dried hillside herbs, fennel seed and cocoa nibs.
