Red
Zerbo
By Giovanni Daglio, Colli Tortonesi, Piemonte, Italy
Zerbo is Daglio's Croatina, a grape once blended into Barbera locally and since revived by Tortona growers for its aromatic, balsamic character; ageing gives a full-bodied, persistent, tannic wine.
Tasting notes
A lively purple rim recalling wild cherry and raspberry, joined on the nose by balsamic herbs. On the palate the tannin is evident but ripe.
Pairs well with
Red meat and mushroom dishes.

- Vinification
- Croatina, a grape tightly linked to the Tortona area and once blended with Barbera, more recently rediscovered by local growers for its aromatic, balsamic, spiced character. Prone to alternating yields that can cut production by as much as half in some years, but valued for its resistance to bad weather.
