Gattinara Riserva
By Giancarlo Travaglini, Alto Piemonte, Piemonte, Italy
Gattinara Riserva DOCG, the estate's reserve bottling of Gattinara, made from Nebbiolo.
Tasting notes
Visually: bright ruby red colour with orange reflections and delicate transparency. Olfactory: great complexity and concentration, dominated by liquorice spice and juniper berries, balsamic sandalwood and abundant toasting, followed by fruit preserved in spirits, strawberry and blackberry jam, finishing with hints of wilting flowers. Flavour: elegant, with vigorous, dominant tannin that develops fully with age; freshness and flavour dominate the palate, with a long, evolving finish.
