Castello
By Castello di Gabiano, Monferrato, Piemonte, Italy
A barrique-aged Chardonnay from Gabiano's white clay hills, awarded 5 grappoli by Bibenda in 2016.
Tasting notes
Colour: clear straw yellow tending to golden. Bouquet: fruity scents of grapefruit peel, pineapple and dried apricot, followed by secondary notes of melted butter, honey, hazelnut and mineral sensations. Taste: savoury, warm, full but lean, with a slight, pleasant tannic vein and a sapid, bitter aftertaste.
Pairs well with
Sauced fish dishes, white meats or cheeses; excellent as an aperitif.
