Red
Fortenera
By Cantina Roggero, Monferrato, Piemonte, Italy
A single-varietal red from Montanera, a nearly forgotten local grape the estate's home page calls capricious and in need of care; the estate's booking page describes the wine as extremely rare.
Tasting notes
Deep, very intense ruby red with violet tinges. Aromas of wilted rose, red fruit and plum, with notes of chocolate. Pleasant acidity balanced with body and round tannins on the palate.
Pairs well with
Game stews and legume soups; the estate also suggests it with roasted chestnuts.
