Sarmassa

By Brezza Giacomo e Figli, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy

Brezza Giacomo e Figli Sarmassa

Barolo from the 1 ha Sarmassa vineyard, whose old name Salmassa probably comes from a brackish spring nearby. Dry years suit it best, as the clay and silt hold water.

Tasting notes

More elegant and ready to drink sooner than the other crus. Made only in great vintages and, after about 9 to 10 years from the harvest, described by the producer as a wine for conversation.

Pairs well with

Game and red meat, but elegant enough for a whole meal.
