Proprietà Sperino

Proprietà Sperino

Proprietà Sperino is a 12-hectare hillside estate in Lessona, near Biella. It came down to the De Marchi family through Felice Sperino, a Turin viticulturist and professor, and Paolo De Marchi's long-held plan to bring it back to life is now carried out by his son Luca, who makes the wines with Paolo's guidance. The vineyards sit on the sandy, acidic soils known locally as the gold of Lessona, with a second site on granite and porphyry in Brusnengo, in the Bramaterra zone. The range is Nebbiolo-led: a rosato, the Uvaggio blend with Vespolina and Croatina, Lessona, a single-vineyard Vigna Covà Riserva, Bramaterra, and a Cabernet Franc from a 0.4 hectare plot. Lessona and Bramaterra are two of the small appellations of Alto Piemonte, the hills between Biella and the Alps.
