Ghiga
Ghiga is a family farm on the crest of the Ghiga hill at Castiglione Tinella, in the Moscato country of the Cuneo hills. The roots go back to the early 1970s, when Mario Ghiga began vinifying part of his grapes and bought the plots around the house. His son Giovanni later modernised the farm and sold grapes to the wine industry. In 2009 grandson Enrico, trained at the Alba wine school, returned to bottling under the family name, with his brother Davide, mother Angela and uncle Giovanni. Moscato d'Asti is the centrepiece, alongside Barbera d'Asti and its two oak-aged Superiore versions Dodici Lune and Ventiquattro Lune, Dolcetto from Costigliole d'Asti, Langhe Favorita, a Nebbiolo, a rosé and a Moscato passito. The team has been phasing out herbicides, leaving grass to grow between the rows and mowing it.
