Red
Elisa
By La Colombera, Colli Tortonesi, Piemonte, Italy
Elisa is La Colombera's barrel-aged Barbera from the estate's oldest vineyard. The producer names a Barbera after each woman of the Semino family, and buys a tractor when a son is born.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red; ageing first in steel and then in barrique brings out red fruit from the hills of Vho, blackberry, cherry, plum and jam, with a spicy bouquet touched by vanilla. Still unsettled when tasted young, it rewards a later tasting, even twelve years after harvest.
