Sperss
By Gaja, Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy
Sperss marked Angelo Gaja's expansion into Barolo in 1988; its name is Piemontese dialect for "nostalgia," a nod to the family's earlier Barolo bottlings before focusing exclusively on Barbaresco for decades.
Tasting notes
Oregano, tobacco, dried currant and pepper on the nose. Rich, structured and complex on the palate, with firm tannins and a lengthy finish that rewards extended cellaring.
