Franco Boasso - Gabutti Margheria

Barolo from the historic Margheria area on the ridge falling west from Serralunga d'Alba, first produced in 2003.

Tasting notes

Intense, lively ruby colour. Complex, persuasive nose of red berries and spice. Rich, persistent palate with fresh fruit and succulent sour cherry, long finish.

Fermentation in steel at 28-30 C with pumping over for 12-15 days, then 15 days of submerged-cap maceration; site says 3 years in new 20 hl oak barrels, tech sheet says 36 months, 18 of them in 15 hl oak casks; not filtered. About 2,800 bottles.
