Pedemontis

Pedemontis

Pedemontis is a mixed farm that grows vines alongside hazelnuts and truffle woodland, with its headquarters in Alba and its working cellar at Priocca. The estate farms 13 hectares of its own vineyards in the Roero woods, on the left bank of the Tanaro around Magliano Alfieri, Castellinaldo, Priocca and Govone. Plantings are Barbera and Nebbiolo for the reds, Arneis and Favorita for the whites, grown with minimal intervention, grass and wild herbs left in the rows, and hand work in the vineyard. The range is six wines named in Piedmontese dialect, from the steel-aged Bajet to the single-vineyard Betlem. Roero sits north of the Tanaro from the Langhe, on younger, sandy soils that tend to give lighter, more aromatic wines than the Langa hills.
