Deltetto
Deltetto is a family winery in Canale, in the heart of Roero, founded in 1953 by Carlo Deltetto (known as Carlin) and his wife Catterina, though the family's winemaking history traces back to the late 19th century in the I Lioni hamlet. In 1977 Antonio Deltetto, a graduate of the Umberto I oenological school in Alba, took over and modernized production, introducing the Roero Bianco from the San Michele vineyard and the estate's first Metodo Classico sparkling wines. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were planted in 1997, and the sparkling wine program later moved to the high hills of Roddino and Sinio under the Alta Langa DOCG. The 2016-vintage Alta Langa Brut was named Best Italian Classic Method by Decanter Magazine. Today the winery is run by the fourth generation, Carlo, Cristina and Claudia, together with their parents Graziella and Tony (Antonio), and production has been organic since 2017.
