Castino
Castino is a family estate in Agliano Terme, in the Asti hills of Monferrato, with seven generations behind it. The family dates its wine as a commercial product to 1854, when bottles first went beyond the household to nearby towns, then to Asti and Turin. They run the whole chain themselves, from vineyard to cellar to sale.
Barbera is the backbone of the range, in versions from a steel-aged Del Fan to Gemma, a Nizza DOCG, and L'Antica from vines planted in the early 1930s. Alongside sit Rabengo, a Barbera and Nebbiolo blend made since 1997, a Nebbiolo, a Grignolino, an Arneis, Moscato d'Asti and a younger, lighter line called I Fossili.
Agliano Terme sits inside the Nizza DOCG zone, a short drive from Nizza Monferrato, Canelli and Asti, in vineyard country inscribed by UNESCO in 2014.
