Cantina Caldera di Fabrizia Caldera
Cantina Caldera has been in the hands of the same Asti family since 1899, when founder Prospero Caldera began making wine in Portacomaro Stazione, in the Monferrato hills. The estate later passed to Carlo and then Giuseppe, and today Fabrizia Caldera runs it as the fourth generation, alongside her husband Roberto Rossi and their son Fabio. The vineyards are old, between 30 and 50 years, and yields are kept low, often under 50 quintals per hectare. Every wine is made from a single grape variety rather than a blend, a choice the family keeps to let each wine show its own character. Winemaking and vineyard work are guided by Asti enologist Mario Redoglia. The range centers on Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato, Barbera d'Asti, Grignolino d'Asti and Dogliani, alongside a Gavi, a Piemonte Viognier and sparkling wines.
