Ca' Rome'
Ca' Rome' is a family estate in Barbaresco, started in 1980 by Romano Marengo after thirty years already spent in the wine trade. His son Giuseppe, known as Pino, now runs the cellar and the vines, carrying forward his father's methods, while his sister Paola looks after sales and their mother Olimpia has shaped much of the household side of the business. The family farms plots in Barbaresco itself, at Rio Sordo, plus vineyards at Serralunga d'Alba that came down through Giuseppe's grandmother. Row management favors grassing and cover crops, with mostly biodynamic treatments against disease. The wines rest in a mix of large 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks and smaller French barriques before further time in bottle. The range centers on single-vineyard Barbaresco and Barolo bottlings alongside Barbera and Langhe wines. Barbaresco itself sits across the Tanaro a short drive from Alba, raised to DOCG status in 1980 alongside Barolo.

Visits & tastings
Visits to Ca' Rome' happen by request rather than on a fixed schedule: the Marengo family will walk you through the cellar and vineyards and talk through the wines in person, but there is no published tasting menu, tour price or set opening hours, so it is best to write ahead.
