Agostino Pavia e Figli
Agostino Pavia e Figli is a family partnership run by Giuseppe and Mauro Pavia in Agliano Terme, in the Alto Monferrato hills of the Asti province. The family farms ten hectares, all owned, mostly around Agliano Terme with a small slice in neighbouring Montegrosso. Barbera dominates, with small plantings of Grignolino, Syrah and Dolcetto, and Albarossa. The estate describes its soil as clay and says it keeps the vine work manual, including shoot cleaning and bunch selection. The range centres on four Barbera d'Asti bottlings made with consultant oenologist Lorenzo Quinterno: La Marescialla and Moliss, both Superiore and aged in wood, plus Blina from steel and Casareggio from large casks. Grignolino d'Asti, the Barbera-Syrah blend Talin, the red I Tre Volti and a Piemonte Rosato complete the list. Barbera d'Asti holds DOCG status.
