Roero Rosso
By Casa Tallone, Asti, Piemonte, Italy
Organically farmed Roero Nebbiolo, fermented in concrete and aged about 12 months in wood. Top wine in Slow Wine 2025. About 1,500 to 1,900 bottles a year, plus 54 magnums.
Tasting notes
Ruby shading to garnet. Delicate red fruit and berries (cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry), floral violet and peppery spice. Bright, pure, intact fruit; light-footed palate with slender body and well-extracted tannin, an energetic, incisive and fun sip.
Pairs well with
Baked vegetable starters, substantial first courses, white or rare red meats including braises and roasts, game, aged cheeses.
