Maciot

Maciot

Maciot is a young family estate around Cocconato, in the Asti Monferrato, run by the Macchia family on land that includes plots inherited from grandparents Ernesto and Luigi in Cocconato and Piovà Massaia, plus some paternal holdings in Montiglio Monferrato. Farming has been organic since ICEA certification and biodynamic since 2013, when the estate earned Demeter status after starting the conversion in 2010; fermentations run spontaneous, with no added yeast. Barbera d'Asti anchors the range, alongside small parcels of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and newer plantings of Nebbiolo, Grignolino and Sauvignon Blanc at Roasino, the latter also bottled as an unusual skin-contact orange wine. Cocconato lies in the Monferrato hills north of Asti, a landscape of vineyards and hazelnut orchards partway between Asti and Turin.
