Amelio Livio
Amelio Livio is a family farm in Grana, in the Monferrato hills of the province of Asti. The farmhouse was built by great-grandfather Giuseppe in the early 1900s, when he stopped working as a sharecropper. His son Carlo passed the work to Livio, and together they moved from selling wine in barrels to selling it in bottle. Since 2017 Livio's daughters Arianna and Daniela run the estate, with their parents still helping in the cellar. They farm 7 hectares and sell from a small shop at the winery. The core is red: Ruchè, Barbera d'Asti, Grignolino, Freisa and Dolcetto. Livio's own idea was Trevipere, a Freisa rosé that also comes as a sparkling brut. Newest is Orizzonti, from a recently planted Viognier vineyard. Grana is one of the seven villages in the province of Asti where Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato may be grown.
