Sweet
Spess
By Cascina Gentile, Gavi, Piemonte, Italy
Sweet wine from Cortese grapes dried on the vine-hung bunch for 90-120 days, then 18 months in barriques. Its name is the dialect word for heavy going.
Tasting notes
Intense yellow with amber shades. Very intense ripe apricot, honey, toasted hazelnut, vanilla and dried fruit. Sweet, velvety, very persistent, complex and structured, with spice and jam notes and a fresh, unexpected lift.
Pairs well with
Dry pastries, nuts, cantucci, foie gras and blue cheeses
