Costa Catterina

Costa Catterina

Costa Catterina is a family estate run by Antonio Coscia and his wife Antonella at Castagnito, in the Roero hills on the left bank of the Tanaro. The vines cover about 15 hectares in several plots around Castagnito and neighbouring villages, and the family says its ancestors moved to the present site a little over a century ago from Castellinaldo.

The range covers both banks of the river: Roero Arneis (still as Arsivel, and sparkling as Ma Brut), Moscato d'Asti, Roero from Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Langhe Dolcetto and a Barolo from Monforte. Vines are trained in traditional guyot, grass grows freely between the rows without herbicides, and the estate holds the Green Experience mark.

Castagnito lies about 9 km from Alba, in sandy Roero soils that suit Arneis; the Roero is known for its Rocche, deep eroded gullies.
