Cascina Ballarin

Cascina Ballarin

Alberto Ballarin is the winery that grew out of Cascina Ballarin, the family farmhouse in Frazione Annunziata, La Morra. The Viberti family, nicknamed Ballarin, has lived here for generations: Pietro built the farmhouse in 1928, and in 1985 Luigi and his sons Giorgio and Giovanni turned it into a winery. When the brothers divided the company at the end of 2021, Alberto, Giorgio's son, started his own winery in 2022. The estate farms about 9 hectares, 7.5 of them in the Barolo area, including Bricco Rocca and Boiolo in La Morra and Bussia in Monforte d'Alba, and 1.5 in the Roero at Sommariva Perno. Viticulture is sustainable, without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers, and mostly by hand. The range covers five Barolos, among them the Bricco Rocca Riserva, plus Langhe Nebbiolo, two Barberas, Dolcetto, Chardonnay and Nascetta. La Morra is one of the eleven communes of the Barolo zone.
