Claudio Mariotto Poggio del Rosso

Dedicated to Claudio's father, known as 'il Rosso', from the historic Barbera vineyard beside the winery, aged 12 months in oak and 24 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Fragrant, abundant and clean, with spiced notes of cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee and licorice, plus morel mushroom and blackberry alongside sweet pipe tobacco. Deep, soft tones recalling ripe cherries and chocolate.

Guyot pruning, from the historic Barbera vineyard next to the winery, yield about 40 quintals/hectare
Vinification
Soft and slow destemming and pressing of the grapes, maceration for 10-12 days and racking. Aged Burgundian style in small second-passage oak barrels for about 12 months, followed by a further 24 months in bottle.
