Tenuta Santa Caterina

Tenuta Santa Caterina

Tenuta Santa Caterina is a historic farm in Grazzano Badoglio, on the Colli Divini of the Asti Monferrato. The property is recorded from 1737 and was brought back to life from the early 2000s by Guido Carlo Alleva, who returned to the village where he was born. More than twenty hectares of vineyards are farmed with organic fertilisers and microbiological techniques, and every wine comes from the estate's own grapes, fermented with native yeasts. The focus is on Grignolino and Freisa, with Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc alongside. Its long-aged Grignolino, Monferace, has won Gambero Rosso's Tre Bicchieri seven years in a row. Wines age in an old brick-vaulted cellar and in the infernot, a cellar dug 17 metres into the tufo that belongs to the UNESCO-listed landscape. The estate also runs a relais B&B.
