Paride Chiovini
Paride Chiovini is a small family estate in Sizzano, in the Colline Novaresi hills of Alto Piemonte, run since 1997 by Paride Chiovini and Maria Elena Randetti. In 2021 the couple reorganised as Chiovini & Randetti, a step meant to grow their output of DOC and DOCG wine while keeping the same hands-on approach. Their vineyards, spread between Sizzano and Ghemme, are planted to the area's own grapes: Nebbiolo (called Spanna here), Vespolina (Ughetta) and Uva Rara (Bonarda Novarese), each grape vinified on its own to keep its character distinct. The cellar turns out around 15,000 bottles a year across eight labels, all named for figures from Greek myth, from the historic Sizzano DOC to Ghemme DOCG and single-variety Colline Novaresi bottlings.
Sizzano and Ghemme sit on the eastern flank of the Sesia valley, in the Novara hills at the northern edge of Piemonte's wine country, not far from Lake Maggiore.
