Osvaldo Barberis

Osvaldo Barberis

Osvaldo Barberis farms nine hectares around Borgata Valdibà in Dogliani, a family-run estate that has been fully organic since 1999, the year it also began bottling part of its own grapes. Seven hectares are Dolcetto; the other two, in Monforte, carry Nebbiolo and Barbera, and the vines average about thirty years old. The cellar works with the consultant oenologist Piero Ballario, and the wines are bottled unfiltered with very low sulphites. The range is short and clear: two Dolcetto from Dogliani, Valdibà and Puncin, and a Barbera called Brichat, with the estate's total production put at 16,000 bottles.

Dogliani is a Langhe village south of Alba and gives its name to the Dolcetto-based Dogliani DOCG.
