Cascina Garitina
Cascina Garitina is a family-run estate in Castel Boglione, in the Alto Monferrato, founded in 1900 by great-grandmother Margherita (whose dialect nickname 'Margheritina', shortened to 'Garitina', gave the winery its name) and carried on by grandfather Giovanni and parents Pasquale and Assunta. It is now in its fourth generation under owner Gianluca Morino, supported by Pasquale, Alessandra, Gaia and Veronica. The vineyards lie in the southern sector of the Nizza DOCG and are planted 85% to Barbera, on the best-exposed sites, and 15% to Brachetto, Dolcetto, Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with the oldest vines reserved for Nizza DOCG production.
