Bartolo Mascarello
Cantina Bartolo Mascarello is a small family cellar on Via Roma in the village of Barolo, founded in 1918 by Giulio Mascarello. His son Bartolo joined in 1945 and held to a traditional line: no barriques, and one Barolo blended from several vineyards rather than a set of single-vineyard bottlings. The blend draws on Cannubi, San Lorenzo, Rué, Rocche dell'Annunziata and Monrobiolo di Bussia. His daughter Maria Teresa has made the wines since the 1990s and has run the estate fully since 2005. The vineyards cover about five hectares. Alongside Barolo, the cellar makes Langhe Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Langhe Freisa and a Barolo Chinato.

Wines from Bartolo Mascarello
- Barbera d'Alba: Barbera d'Alba DOC, Barbera, Red. Grown on a single vineyard alongside the estate's Nebbiolo, this Barbera is made in the same uncompromising, traditional style as the Barolo.
- Barolo: Barolo DOCG, Nebbiolo, Red. Bartolo Mascarello's single Barolo has been co-fermented from the same five vineyards for generations, a deliberate rejection of the single-cru bottlings that became fashionable elsewhere in Barolo.
- Barolo Chinato: Barolo Chinato, Nebbiolo, Fortified. A traditional after-dinner infusion made from the estate's own Barolo, following an old Piemontese pharmacist's recipe.
- Dolcetto d'Alba: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto, Red. A fresh, everyday expression of Dolcetto that shares the estate's traditional, unhurried winemaking.
- Freisa: Langhe DOC Freisa, Freisa, Red. Freisa is a native Piemontese variety the Mascarello family has continued to champion even as many neighbours replanted their plots to Nebbiolo.
- Langhe Nebbiolo: Langhe DOC Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo, Red. The estate's most accessible red, drawing on declassified lots and purchased Nebbiolo to offer an earlier-drinking window into the Mascarello style.
