Antonio Bellicoso

Antonio Bellicoso

Antonio Bellicoso is a small Monferrato estate of four hectares producing around 20,000 bottles a year. Antonio, an oenologist by passion and an agronomist and consultant by profession, committed himself full time in 2003 to his parents' farm and turned it into the present winery. He follows every step himself, from vineyard to cellar to bottling. The range is built on Barbera and Freisa. Barbera Merum is the flagship and gets macerations of twenty days or more; Amormio, another Barbera, and Freisa are made with shorter fermentations. Malolactic fermentation is left to native bacteria, which means heating the cellar through the first winter. The farm is in the hamlet of Molisso, in Montegrosso d'Asti, a village in the Barbera d'Asti area south of Asti.
