Sarmassa
By Marchesi di Barolo, Barolo, Piemonte, Italy
Sarmassa, 6.5 hectares on a steep south-east-facing slope of stony, calcareous soil, is the estate's most structured single-vineyard Barolo.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby with garnet reflections; a rich, enveloping bouquet of ripe cherry, dark plum and red rose, with black pepper and cinnamon. Robust structure with firm tannins pointing to serious ageing potential.
