Roberto Ferraris
Stefano Ferraris founded the estate in 1923, and four generations on the family farms 12 hectares of Guyot-trained vines around Agliano Terme, some of them up to 70 years old. The house sits in the historic core of Barbera d'Asti and Nizza, and the cellar dates to the 19th century; it holds a collection of sculptures made from ancient vine stumps, part of which has been shown at the Castle of Grinzane Cavour.
Barbera is the backbone: I Suôrí and Nobbio age in steel, Bisavolo in 500 litre tonneaux and La Cricca in barriques, with Liberta from Castelnuovo Calcea as the Nizza. Small lots of Grignolino (Amici Miei) and a Nebbiolo called GriXa, made since 2008, complete the range.
Agliano Terme lies in the Asti hills of the Monferrato, inside the UNESCO-listed wine landscape.

Wines from Roberto Ferraris
- Amici Miei: Grignolino d'Asti DOC, Grignolino 100%, Red. A Grignolino d'Asti made to revive a variety left on the sidelines. The name Amici Miei (my friends) speaks of conviviality; best a little fresh on sultry days.
- Bisavolo: Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG, Barbera 100%, Red. A selection of grapes from the best exposed estate vineyards, dedicated to Giovanni Ferraris (born 1865), who chose the best Barbera for his private Riserva. Aged about a year in 500 litre oak.
- GriXa: Monferrato Rosso DOC, Nebbiolo 100%, Red. A Nebbiolo made in small quantities since 2008, named after Grixa, the grey grape of old Asti farming treatises; drawn from a Turin agricultural faculty selection of old Nebbiolo clones.
- I Suôrí: Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Barbera 100%, Red. A Barbera d'Asti from the estate's youngest vineyards, aged in steel. Fresh, supple and well balanced, with fruit and spice aromas.
- La Cricca: Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG, Barbera 100%, Red. The estate's barrique-aged Barbera d'Asti Superiore from the best vineyard, full-bodied, fruity and rich in extract.
- Liberta: Nizza DOCG, Barbera 100%, Red. A Nizza from the Liberta vineyard in Castelnuovo Calcea, aged 18 months in French oak. Particularly full-bodied, with mineral notes, suited to long ageing.
- Nobbio: Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Barbera 100%, Red. A Barbera d'Asti from the old Nobbio vineyard, aged in steel, rich and concentrated.
