Lodali

Lodali is a family winery in Treiso, run today by third-generation winemaker Walter Lodali. It started in 1939, when Giovanni Lodali began making wine for guests at his small restaurant in the village. His son Lorenzo trained at the oenological school in Alba and, with his wife Rita, released the estate's first vineyard-selected Barbaresco and Barolo in 1958. After Lorenzo died in 1982, Rita and a young Walter kept the winery going, and Walter later took charge of the two home vineyards, Bricco Ambrogio in Roddi and Rocche dei Sette Fratelli in Treiso, and renewed the cellar equipment. In 2005 he introduced the Lorens line, reserve Barolo and Barbaresco made only in the best years from those vineyards. Lodali also grows Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay and Arneis, plus a sweet Moscato d'Asti, all from its own Langhe and Roero vineyards. Treiso itself is one of the communes entitled to the Barbaresco DOCG.

Lodali welcomes visitors to its historic cellar in Treiso, a short drive from Alba. Every visit includes a winery tour and a tasting, and reservations are appreciated.
