La Briusa
La Briusa is a small family-run farm in Vigliano d'Asti, run by Piersandro Penna, with vineyards on hills at 279 metres facing south-east. The soil is mostly chalky with a little sand, the vines are trained on Guyot, and most of the work, harvest included, is done by hand. Barbera is the backbone, with plantings up to about fifty years old on the slopes of Vigliano and neighbouring Montegrosso d'Asti, alongside Dolcetto, Grignolino, Cortese, Chardonnay and Nebbiolo, which went into the ground in 2017. The nine wines on the list include a Barbera d'Asti, two Superiore bottlings, and a Nebbiolo made in a run of 400 numbered bottles. Vigliano d'Asti is a village in the province of Asti, in the Monferrato hills.
