Fabio Fidanza

Fabio Fidanza

Fidanza is a family farm on the Rodotiglia hill at Calosso, in the Asti hills, run today by Fabio Fidanza, who joined the business in 1994. The family has lived in Calosso since the early 1800s and moved to the present farmhouse in 1968. Of 12 hectares, 9 are planted to vine: Barbera and Moscato above all, with Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Cortese. The soil is clay and limestone, at about 400 metres. The wines include Barbera d'Asti, the Superiore Sterlino from vines over 40 years old, a Monferrato Dolcetto, the Nebbiolo-based Que duàn and Moscato d'Asti. Treatments are kept to a minimum, mostly copper and sulphur, with grass between the rows, green manure and organic fertiliser. The cellar is dug into tuff and holds concrete tanks, oak casks and barriques. Calosso sits in the Moscato d'Asti production zone.
