De Forville

De Forville

De Forville is a family winery in the village of Barbaresco, founded around 1860 by Gioacchino De Forville, who came from a Walloon family and bet early on Nebbiolo. Five generations on, brothers Paolo and Valter Anfosso run it from the cellar they keep beside the village tower. About eleven hectares are split between two places. In Barbaresco they farm Nebbiolo and Dolcetto in the Loreto, Ovello and Cavanna crus. Around Castagnole Lanze, at the Cascina Buc farmhouse, they grow Barbera d'Asti, Moscato and Chardonnay. The range runs from Barbaresco, which spends two years in wooden casks, through Nebbiolo and Barbera in oak, to bright Dolcetto, Arneis, Chardonnay and Moscato d'Asti made for drinking young. Barbaresco sits in the Langhe, a short drive from Alba.
