Albino Rocca
Albino Rocca is a four-generation family estate in Barbaresco. Giacomo Rocca began selling grapes and then wine in the 1940s, and the winery took shape in the 1960s around vineyards inherited by Albino, later built up by his son Angelo. About 20 hectares lie in Barbaresco, Neive and San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, a hamlet of Alba near Treiso, planted mostly to Nebbiolo with Barbera, Dolcetto, Cortese, Moscato and Chardonnay. The family bottles four single-vineyard Barbarescos, Ronchi, Cottà, Ovello Vigna Loreto and Montersino, alongside a blended Barbaresco, the Angelo label named for the late father, and two Riservas. The Barbarescos age in large oak barrels, and the estate joined the Green Experience sustainability certification with the 2016 vintage. Barbaresco is the smaller neighbour of Barolo, and the village sits about 15 km east of Alba.
