Agricola BES - Bere E Sognare
Agricola BES is a small, family-run estate in the Monferrato hills, farmed by Daniele Balocco in the comune of Treville (AL). Eight hectares of land carry four hectares of vines, worked organically since certification in November 2020. The vineyard soil formed from marine sediment, limestone and clay, which the estate says gives its wines fruity notes and a strong minerality.
The range runs from Grignolino, bottled as Bestia Grama, and Barbera, bottled as Dedulà, to a Monferrato Rosso made from Syrah called Xirà, a Freisa called Barbisa, a Grignolino-Barbera rosé called Ceci n'est pas, and two wines released simply as Vino Rosso and Vino Bianco, one of them from a grape native to the Susa Valley. Treville sits in the Monferrato Casalese, the district around Casale Monferrato whose clay and limestone soils have long favored Grignolino and Barbera.
