Le More Bianche

Le More Bianche

Le More Bianche is the small estate of Alessandro Bovio in Magliano Alfieri, in the Roero. Bovio worked about fifteen years as a consultant to other cellars before opening his own in 2015. He farms 2.3 hectares around the cellar, half Barbera and half Nebbiolo, with copper and sulphur only, sown cover crops and no synthetic treatments. The name comes from the centuries-old mulberry tree in the courtyard, which also appears on the label. Its white mulberries ripen in late spring. In the cellar he ferments with a submerged cap, prefers large casks to barriques, and has used 400-litre ceramic vessels since the 2017 harvest. The range is short: a Roero Vigna San Bernardo, two Barbera d'Alba, a Langhe Nebbiolo called Nebiulin and an Arneis called Ironia. The Roero is the hill country on the left bank of the Tanaro, known for Arneis and Nebbiolo.
