Cantina Flori

Cantina Flori

Cantina Flori is a young label from an old farming family in Treiso, in the Langhe hills south-east of Alba. The Flori family has grown grapes here since the early 1900s, and siblings Michele and Noemi, the fourth generation, now vinify and bottle their own wines under the family name, after generations of selling fruit to other Barbaresco estates. The cellar is small, with steel tanks and large Slavonian oak barrels. The vineyards are certified under SQNPI, the national integrated-production scheme, and the range is four wines: Barbaresco, Langhe Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d'Alba and Langhe Arneis. Treiso is one of the communes whose vineyards fall inside the Barbaresco DOCG zone.

Wines from Cantina Flori

  • Barbaresco: Barbaresco DOCG, Nebbiolo 100%, Red. The estate's flagship Barbaresco, a classic Nebbiolo from old Treiso vines, aged in large Slavonian oak. It drinks well now and rewards a few years in the cellar.
  • Dolcetto d'Alba: Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto 100%, Red. A fruit-forward, easy-drinking Dolcetto from the Treiso hills, kept in stainless steel.
  • Langhe Arneis: Langhe DOC Arneis, Arneis 100%, White. A fresh, light and pure Arneis, dry and crisp, made in stainless steel.
  • Langhe Nebbiolo: Langhe DOC Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo 100%, Red. A Nebbiolo in its youth, fermented in steel and given six months in large oak for structure without masking the delicate aromas.
