Benito Favaro

Benito Favaro

Cantina Favaro is a family-run winery in Piverone, in the Canavese hills of the province of Turin, close to Lake Viverone. Its address, Strada Chiusure, shares its name with Le Chiusure, one of the estate's two Erbaluce wines. Erbaluce is the white grape of the Caluso appellation and the centre of the range. Le Chiusure and Tredicimesi, whose name points to thirteen months of ageing, both carry the Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG.

The estate also makes two reds under the Canavese DOC, Ros from Nebbiolo and F2 from Freisa. Piverone sits at the edge of the great glacial moraine amphitheatre of Ivrea, a landscape of low ridges and lakes that suits fresh, cool-climate whites. The winery publishes only its contact details online, with no wine list or visiting programme.
