The estate's top Barbera, from a vineyard over 60 years old (the page also says over ninety), about 4,000 bottles a year.

## Tasting notes

Good pulp, ruby red, turning elegant garnet with age. Wide-ranging scent of ripe fruit, cocoa, spices, vanilla and toast. Dry, robust, rich and persistent.

## Food pairings

Red meat, roasts, game and mature cheeses; a meditation wine.
