Purple-red with slight garnet reflections, brilliant. Clear notes of violet and rose, plum, pepper and a light smoky touch. Voluminous, warm structure, balanced, with alcohol well supported by acidity. Delicately tannic and velvety, with a savoury, fruity, very long finish.

## Food pairings

Cured meats and medium-aged Piedmontese cheeses, pasta including stuffed pasta, white and red meats, roast or braised. Piedmontese pairings: salame crudo 'turista al Barbera', cardoon flan with toma fonduta, agnolotti del plin in roast gravy, bollito misto, Castelmagno DOP.
