- **Producer:** Giovanni Abrigo
- **Style:** White
- **Denomination:** Langhe Arneis DOC
- **Grape:** Arneis 100%
- **Production area:** Blend of grapes from two vineyards in the municipality of Diano d'Alba.
- **Soil:** Clay and limestone with layers of compact sand and grey sandstone, known locally as Arenarie di Diano (Diano Sandstone).
- **Exposure:** Mainly westerly, altitude 300 to 400 m a.s.l.
- **Harvest:** By hand, vineyard by vineyard, into crates, in the first ten days of September, as soon as the grapes are ripe.
- **Vineyard planting:** Espalier vineyards with Guyot pruning, average density 4,500 to 4,800 vines per hectare.
- **Vinification:** Whole bunches are soft-pressed with a pneumatic press, using only the first, free-run juice; the cold must settles for 18 hours after pressing and is then racked. Ferments in stainless steel at 15 to 17°C for about 15 days, then rests on its fine lees with no malolactic fermentation, spending at least four months in bottle.
- **Serving temperature:** 10-12°C
- **Storage:** With a couple of years in bottle it develops aromas of dried fruit and hazelnuts.

## Summary

100% Arneis from two Diano d'Alba vineyards, cold-fermented in steel to preserve freshness; the name SaMai nods to a Piemontese dialect expression about seizing opportunity.

## Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow, with floral and fruity aromas of chamomile and peach. Full-bodied with good acidity, roundness and persistence on the palate.

## Food pairings

Soups, light antipasti, crudites, salads with white meats and pomegranate, and creamy cheeses.
