- **Producer:** Gagliasso
- **Style:** Red
- **Denomination:** Barolo Riserva DOCG
- **Grape:** Nebbiolo 100%
- **Cru / vineyard:** Rocche dell'Annunziata, Torriglione
- **Production area:** Rocche dell'Annunziata and Torriglione vineyards in La Morra; average vine age about 55 years.
- **Soil:** Medium-textured clay-limestone, slightly sandy.
- **Vineyard planting:** About 5,500 vines per hectare, Guyot-trained with medium-short pruning of 7 to 8 buds; thinned in two passes to roughly halve the yield per vine.
- **Vinification:** The grapes are gently pressed in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where they begin fermenting spontaneously; fermentation runs at 30 to 31°C and maceration lasts 30 to 35 days, with the must pumped over and punched down at least four times a day. After pressing off, malolactic fermentation also takes place in steel. The wine then ages 12 months in French barriques, 10% new, which are blended into a large cask to prepare the Rocche and Torriglione crus; in the best years two barriques each of Rocche and Torriglione are set aside and aged a further four years in used barriques. After bottling it rests a further 22 to 24 months in bottle.
- **Il Vino Bello rating:** 4/5
