- **Producer:** Cascina delle Rose
- **Style:** Red
- **Denomination:** Barbera d'Alba DOC
- **Grape:** Barbera
- **Production area:** Barbaresco and Neive
- **Soil:** Marine-origin soil with compact stratification, subsoil mainly silt, clay and sand, over grey-blue calcareous marl with abundant underground spring water.
- **Exposure:** East, sunny until sunset, 230m asl (Barbaresco); South/South-east, 285m asl (Neive)
- **Vineyard planting:** Guyot, 4,400 to 5,000 vines per hectare
- **Vinification:** Grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed by machine so the stalks stay whole and the seeds are not crushed. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in steel tanks, with skin maceration of about 15 to 20 days. The wine is then aged for about 12 to 15 months in large, untoasted Slavonian oak barrels before bottling on a waning moon, unfiltered and unclarified.

## Summary

A Barbera d'Alba blended from two vineyards, one in Barbaresco and one in Neive, fermented in steel and aged about 12 to 15 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

## Tasting notes

Intense, brilliant ruby red tending to garnet, with red berries and a snappy, good acid structure balanced by fine elegance. Warm, harmonious and persistent finish with great drinkability.

## Food pairings

Pairs well with red meats and medium-aged cheeses, and also with first courses and fish, thanks to its structure and acidity.
