> Sparkling, Alta Langa DOCG by [Bera](https://ilvinobello.com/wineries/bera.md), Langhe, Piemonte, Italy. From Il Vino Bello (https://ilvinobello.com/wines/bera-alta-langa-blanc-de-blancs).

- **Producer:** Bera
- **Style:** Sparkling
- **Denomination:** Alta Langa DOCG
- **Grape:** Chardonnay
- **Production area:** Langa hills
- **Soil:** Calcareous, marly
- **Harvest:** Mid to late August; hand-sorted in the vineyard and picked in perforated crates
- **Vineyard planting:** About 4,800 vines per hectare, Guyot
- **Vinification:** Whole bunches go straight into the press after a second hand sorting, with a soft pressing. The free-run must settles and ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The base wine stays on its fine lees with battonage, and the cuvée is made from base wines of the same vintage. The second fermentation starts in bottle the following spring, followed by a long ageing on the lees in temperature-controlled rooms, then remuage and disgorgement a la glace. Extra Brut.
- **Award:** Tre Bicchieri (Gambero Rosso, Vini d'Italia 2027), vintage 2022, source: https://www.gamberorosso.it/prodotti/vino/alta-langa-extra-brut-bera-blanc-2022/

## Tasting notes

Colour: straw yellow with golden reflections, and a fine, persistent perlage. Nose: bread crust and yeast alongside the primary, elegant aromas of chardonnay, enhanced by the long ageing. Palate: dry, rich and savoury, lifted by marked acidity; fine, delicate, intense.
