> Red, Barbaresco DOCG by [Agricola Gian Piero Marrone](https://ilvinobello.com/wineries/marrone.md), Barolo, Piemonte, Italy. From Il Vino Bello (https://ilvinobello.com/wines/agricola-gian-piero-marrone-barbaresco).

- **Producer:** Agricola Gian Piero Marrone
- **Style:** Red
- **Denomination:** Barbaresco DOCG
- **Grape:** Nebbiolo 100%
- **Soil:** White clay-limestone soils. The light colour comes from the high calcium carbonate; clay outweighs silt and sand, which lets Nebbiolo complete its cycle without water stress and with limited vigour, giving longevity, freshness, elegance and character
- **Exposure:** South, 380 m a.s.l.
- **Harvest:** Manual, third week of October
- **Vineyard planting:** Average planting year 1980, traditional Guyot
- **Vinification:** Very delicate destemming and crushing to keep the berries intact, then a long maceration on the skins at 28 to 30 °C for 25 days. Fermentation in 30 hl casks (70%) and barriques (30%). Batonnage for 8 months and ageing in wood.

## Summary

A 100% Nebbiolo Barbaresco from white clay-limestone soils, macerated 25 days and aged in wood.

## Tasting notes

Intense, brilliant colour shading from ruby to garnet. A stimulating bouquet still fruity yet ethereal: raspberry and red-fruit jam, geranium and violet, green pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg, hay and wood, toasted hazelnut, vanilla and even aniseed.
