## About

Villa Sparina is a Gavi estate in Monterotondo, in the hills above the town. Mario Moccagatta and his wife Bruna bought the property in the early seventies, and the family has made Gavi since 1970. Their children Stefano, Tiziana and Massimo now run it, together with a hotel and restaurant in the eighteenth-century farmhouse complex. Of about 100 hectares, roughly 70 are planted to Cortese, including a historic vineyard from 1945 that gives the Monterotondo cru. The remaining land grows Barbera, among it the Rivalta vineyard at Rivalta Bormida in Alto Monferrato. The wines are Gavi del Comune di Gavi, the Monterotondo cru, a Metodo Classico Brut Blanc de Blancs aged at least 42 months on the lees, Barbera, Rosé and the Montej range.
